Atlanta’s longest running 5K highlights inclusivity in workplace wellness
ATLANTA, September 16, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 41st Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll created by Jeff Galloway is set to return to Piedmont Park September 25th. Known for being Atlanta’s largest office party, more than a team-building event, participant stories weave a fabric of inclusivity.
Octavio Aguado shares their reason for participating in the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll. As a lead for the Atlanta Run Club, he shares “running has been a side quest to improve my spiritual and physical wellness. I grew up overweight, so I understand the importance of fitness.” Additionally, he shares, “while running, I can count on strangers in Atlanta, Georgia to be my teammates. They become my accountability partners for my health and well-being. Additionally, running reminds me of my cultural background as a first generation Mexican-American individual. As a member of the Balance Running Crew, the majority of the runners come from immigrant families and know the importance of mental health.”
For some, the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll is more than a race. Jenna Edwards shares a deeply personal story on why she participates. “In 2020, while leaving work at the Kaiser Permanente Douglasville Medial Office, I was involved in a hit and run car accident that flipped my car and caused me to fracture my back. Thankfully, I did not require surgery and have made what I consider a full recovery!” She adds that she is “happy to do [Kaiser Permanente Run Walk Roll] amongst [her] colleagues this year!”
For some, exercise can be therapeutic after tragedy. Participant Tara Johnson describes walking as her “peace and path to healing” after losing one of her daughters. She describes her walking as more than healing and as a way for the memory of a beautiful daughter who continues to inspire [her] every day.”
Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll is excited to host many participants this year and hear the thousands of stories of triumph that this event brings. With inclusivity in mind, the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk & Roll is designed to accommodate participants with diverse fitness abilities. All are encouraged to register, both individually and as teams.

ABOUT JEFF GALLOWAY
Jeff Galloway competed in the 1972 U.S. Olympics in the 10K. Since then, Jeff has devoted his life to running and promoting fitness for everyone. More than a million runners and walkers have read his books, attended his retreats or running schools, received e-coaching, had an individual consultation or joined his training programs. Jeff designed his run-walk-run method in 1973 to help beginners start running. Strategic walking breaks allow runners to control fatigue, which helps to eliminate significant running injuries. Surveys show that veteran runners often improve their finish times when they shift to run, walk and run.
