30 years of Antarctica Marathon® – 2025 Voyage Two race report
April 4, 2025

(April 4, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Antarctica Marathon®, a milestone that brought together athletes from across the globe to take on one of the most extreme and remote racecourses on Earth. Since its inception in 1995 by Marathon Tours & Travel, the event has pushed runners to their limits amid Antarctica’s rugged terrain and harsh conditions—all while championing the work of Oceanites, a nonprofit focused on protecting the continent’s fragile ecosystem. Over the past three decades, the marathon has played a role in advancing vital environmental research and conservation efforts.
The event is uniquely staged across two separate voyages, allowing all participants the chance to run on King George Island while minimizing environmental impact in accordance with strict preservation protocols. Each year, the race also includes participants from nearby research stations.
