30 years of Antarctica Marathon® – 2025 Voyage One race report

March 21, 2025

(14 March 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Antarctica Marathon® celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, bringing together participants from around the world to compete on one of the most remote and challenging courses in the world. Established in 1995 by the team at Marathon Tours & Travel, the event has continuously tested athletes with its extreme conditions while supporting Oceanites, a nonprofit dedicated to Antarctic conservation. Over the past three decades, the marathon has contributed to ongoing environmental research and preservation efforts in the region.

The Antarctica Marathon is held over two separate voyages, with participants traveling to King George Island via expedition ships. This ensures that all participants have the opportunity to experience the challenging course while adhering to strict environmental guidelines in the region. Each year local runners from the local bases on King George Island also join the race.

We are incredibly proud to continue hosting this unique event and grateful for the dedication of every runner who makes it possible.”
