July 2, 2021
• Rescheduled 5k returns as a live, in-person event benefiting the McCourt Foundation • 3.1-mile road race to take place over two days on Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3 • Pasadena is gearing up for Los Angeles County’s first official race back
PASADENA – This weekend, running events will return to Los Angeles County, this time with thousands of athletes at the start line.
Traditionally held in conjunction with the Rose Bowl Half Marathon, the 2021 Rose Bowl 5k will take place as a stand along event over two days on Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3. The outdoor, COVID-safe format will ensure a safer, more manageable event flow for all runners and walkers.
“After a year filled with virtual events and stay-at-home restrictions, we’re looking forward to welcoming the running community back to an in-person, live event at the Rose Bowl,” said Murphy Reinschreiber, Chief Operating Officer at The McCourt Foundation. “With the Fourth of July holiday taking place on Sunday this year, the Rose Bowl 5k is the perfect and healthy way to kick off the holiday weekend with a fun, fitness event.”
Registration for the Rose Bowl 5K is $50 through Thursday and $55 on-site Friday and Saturday and includes a Rose Bowl 5K Bib, a Finisher Medal and an ASICS Finisher shirt. All proceeds from the 5k support The McCourt Foundation’s mission to empower individuals and communities to build a healthier world through research, education, and events. Both in-person and virtual participation options are available.
The Rose Bowl Half Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, September 23. Online registration is open for both events at McCourtFoundation.org.
