1,500 Bike the Coast participants ride down Highway 101 at annual bike ride

November 19, 2024

The event took riders along some of Southern California’s historic beach towns

SAN DIEGO, Calif. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Bike the Coast hosted over 1,500 riders on Nov. 2 for its annual leisure bike riding event. Participants could choose from five distances: the 7 and 15-mile Family Rides, 25 miles, 50 miles and 100 miles, all journeying through the scenic and historical areas of Southern California. The event draws locals and visitors to the area who are looking to explore some of Southern California on the ease of a bike.

Participants of the 25, 50 and 100-mile rides had the opportunity to ride through multiple beach towns including Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar. Those who participated in the 7 and 15-mile courses rode on the San Luis Rey River Trail.

“Bike the Coast is meant to showcase the beauty of Southern California, and we wanted to make sure that there was no ‘race’ aspect to it so that participants can truly take in all that this incredible area has to offer,” said Mike Bone, President and CEO of Spectrum Sports Management, which produces Bike the Coast. “This event is a unique event, due to its ‘rules of the road’ atmosphere that makes it a leisure ride fit for all experience levels and ages. Seeing the joy that this year’s ride brought to so many riders was incredible, and we’re thrilled to see interest in the event continue to grow.”

This year, Bike the Coast continued its support of the National MS Society. The National MS Society, founded in 1946, is the global leader of a growing movement dedicated to creating a world free of MS. The Society funds cutting-edge research for a cure, drives change through advocacy and provides programs and services to help people affected by MS live their best lives. All proceeds from the Beer Garden and donations from riders were all donated to the cause.
