Cleveland, OH – May 15, 2013 – Runners can get ready to rock the streets of Ohio’s music Mecca! In partnership with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and Positively Cleveland, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Cleveland Half Marathon today unveiled the 2013 course that will run by several iconic Cleveland hot spots and neighborhoods. Taking place on Sunday, October 6, the half marathon course will start at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and end at W. Superior Avenue and W. 3rd Street with a Finish Line Festival presented by Horseshoe Casino Cleveland.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Cleveland promises a scenic destination event for runners and walkers of all abilities, showcasing the lakefront views and notable landmarks throughout the city including Progressive Field, Home of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns Stadium, Quicken Loans Arena and the Great Lakes Science Center, among other attractions.The course also highlights notable neighborhoods including Tremont West, Ohio City and Gordon Square Arts District. Participants will run by the bars, restaurants and famous West Side Market on W. 25th Street and Lorain Avenue, and take in the lush green sports park, Park and Clark Fields, before finishing in front of the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland.
“Starting out at the nostalgic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, runners will truly have the ultimate Rock ‘n’ Roll experience from start to finish,” said Natalie Miyake, event manager. “The impressive musical performances along the course and at the finish line will further encourage participants and help them celebrate the day’s accomplishments. We know runners from near and afar will enjoy touring all that Cleveland has to offer—from the scenic neighborhoods to key attractions around the city. Everyone will be excited to stay and make a fun weekend out of their trip.”
In true Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon fashion, the Cleveland event will feature live local bands, with several hand-picked by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, performing on stages along every mile of the scenic course. Additionally, cheerleaders and themed water stations are interspersed throughout the course. The race experience concludes with a major headliner concert at the finish line.
